In 2012 Two Ravens Press will begin publishing EarthLines, a full-colour A4-sized magazine dedicated to high quality writing which explores the relationship between people and the natural world, and encourages reconnection. In 2012 we will publish at least two issues (May and November) with the aim of making the magazine quarterly by 2013.
Two Ravens Press is an independent publisher of contemporary British and international literature based on a working croft on the Atlantic edge of the Outer Hebrides. We specialise in challenging and innovative ‘eco-literature’: fiction, poetry, and nonfiction.
We are now looking for submissions of essays, feature articles and poetry from writers who are interested in working with us both to celebrate and to develop the field of writing about nature, place and the environment. This is not a funded project; for the first two issues, as we establish the magazine, with the exception of lead articles we will offer payment primarily in the form of free copies and a subscription to the magazine. Submission enquiries by email only at submissions[at]earthlines[dot]org[dot]uk. Deadline for the first issue: March 15 2012.
We are also looking for artists and photographers who can supply us with high quality illustrative material, both in colour and in black and white. Again, as we develop the magazine for the first two issues we will offer payment in the same form as for written material, along with full and detailed credits about contributing artists’ work. Please don’t attach files to your email enquiry to us; however, we’re happy to look at a website or other online gallery to view your work.
We are also interested in highlighting the work of storytellers and other professionals working in this area.
The specific kinds of writing we are looking for are:
- Essays
- Feature articles
- Poetry (in the category of ecopoetry)
- Short fiction (please note that fiction submissions must clearly relate to the focus of the magazine)
- News items, ideas for short columns
- Book reviews ONLY in the category of writing about nature, the environment and place
Our website, www.earthlines.org.uk, will be online by mid-December 2011, and will be updated and expanded regularly. If you have a suggestion for another kind of content, then please feel free to email us at submissions[at]earthlines[dot]org[dot]uk.
For any other contact, please email us at info[at]earthlines[dot]org[dot]uk.

submissions now by email or when your website is up in December?
